Self-watering flower pot

Only 30 years from now Mexico City was a completely different. The first 3 images show the present. The approximate metropolitan area occupied is 180, 000 ha. The data suggest that the territoy has 7,049 ha of public spaces, of which 67% are green areas, and 33% squares and other spaces. So the ciry provides each inhabitant 5.4 m2 of green area, which does not comply with the international standards. Clearly, the city has a deficit problem and distribution of public spaces and green areas.
Like the lack of green areas pollution afflicts the city. These two problems are very serious but it is more serious that the population ignores the problem and tryes solving it by throwing it to some one else. What is sought with the project is to familiarize the population with healthy methods of living. Which means the aim of  this pot is for the population to take that first step towards a greener life. This simple design attempts to show that we must be in touch with nature,  and especially show that is very simple.
This flower pot is designed for interiors, again targeting people who live in small apartments, flats or small houses. This pot works as a SLP (sub-irrigated planter), the pot is given to the user with potted seedlings facilitating growth of the plants.  Theres 3 plants and the wooden grid separates them only visually. This is a self watering pot which means it needs to be watered one time in a medium period of time (once a month).
The main pot contains 4 strips of wicking fabric 4” inches long and 1”wide, this strips will draw water up to the plant from the watercontainer (2lt capacity). This is a very easy way to mantain your flowers healthy and need less effort from the user but stil some. The materials are wood and fiberglass and acrylic.  The wooden base y fixed to the wall or surface , the water container is made of acrylic. The main pot is made out of fiber glass. To poure in the water in there’s a hole in one of the corners of the main pot. The cotton fabric strips rest on the base of the main pot and are connected to the acrylic container where they wick the water from.  Its very easy to clean and replacing the cotton strips. The user can choose between fixing it to the wall of simply resting it on the floor or table.
